Christina Bijou CV [PDF]
Christina Bijou is a Ph.D. Candidate at The Ohio State University. Her research interests include health disparities, sexual/reproductive health, and health policy. She earned a master’s degree in sociology from Ohio State and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Maryland, College Park. Christina’s research primarily focuses on racial disparities in health with an emphasis on social exclusion. Focusing on Black Americans, Christina investigates the role of racism and other structural forms of exclusion in patterning health outcomes by race. She also examines within-group health disparities among Blacks based on key social indicators such as nativity, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and gender. Throughout her graduate career, Christina has worked on several projects related to health disparities across various populations, including: 1) mental health among génocidaires in Rwanda; 2) racial disparities in breast cancer treatment uptake, and; 3) reproductive health in Appalachia.
