Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Brian Kowalski is a social science research supervisor in the Bureau of Research and Evaluation at the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.  My broader research interests surround prison misconduct, recidivism, risk assessment, and police/citizen encounters.  Most of my agency work involves prison and jail operations-related research.  Some current projects include restrictive housing reform initiatives, prison violence, alternative methods of correctional program delivery, assessing the impact of prison contextual factors on inmate misconduct, and studying the relationship among static and dynamic risk scores, prison misconduct, and recidivism.
