Andrea Seleana Constant is a Ph.D. candidate and affiliate of the Institute for Population Research. Andrea's research interrogates how systems of racialized social control shape the health and well-being of Black communities. Across her work, she examines how race/racism and gender shape experiences of identity, safety, and agency. Guided by a Black feminist abolitionist framework, her scholarship focuses on two interconnected areas: how carcerality shapes health and wellbeing and the structural determinants of suicidality and mental health among Black youth and emerging adults.
