Kristi Williams, professor of sociology, is the nation’s foremost expert on the role of marriage and fertility patterns in contributing to women’s health across the life course. Her work has been published in the top journals in sociology and demography and has been supported by more than $1 million in research grants from the NIH. In addition to her high-impact scholarship, Williams served as director of Undergraduate Studies from 2010-2016 and as program director of the new Bachelor of Public Health, Public Health Sociology specialization. Professor Williams currently serves as chair of the American Sociological Association’s Section on the Sociology of Mental Health and as editor in chief of the Journal of Marriage and Family, the most highly-cited journal in family science.
