  • PhD Candidate Yao Man recently accepted a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Women's and Gender Studies at Denison University in Granville, Ohio. Congrats, Yao!
  • Professor Laura Dugan was recently interviewed for a story in Poynter.org discussing mass shootings among the LGBTQ+ community. “To start worrying that somebody who’s trans is going to do mass shootings, that’s just not a concern, given the vast number of people who are not trans who do mass shootings," she said.   • Professor Mike Vuolo in collaboration with graduate student Maria Orsini and other coauthors published the article "Comprehensive vaping bans are associated with lower odds of initiation into electronic nicotine delivery systems use among young people." Check it out with the open access link
  • Professor Chris Knoester and PhD candidate James Tompsett had their new research published in Sociological Focus on the growth and social inequalities of girls’ high school sports participation, conducted in collaboration with professor Kirsten Hextrum (Oregon State), written up by OSU Research News. The work also generated interviews with Scripps News and All Sides with Anna Staver. The Scripps News story was picked up by dozens of their digital TV affiliates and MSN, among other places.
