  • Eric Schoon has been appointed to a 3-year term on University Senate representative the Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Who We Are The University Senate is the shared governance body that helps the university function as a unified institution. Faculty, students and staff come together with university administrators to develop and advise on policies, processes, programs and solutions for issues facing the university. We are thankful to Eric for his service. 
  • Graduate student Sinem Esengen had her first paper, “We had that abortion together’: abortion networks and access to il/legal abortions in Turkey”, published in Culture, Health and Sexuality. It is available online at https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/13691058.2023.2301410. 
  • Professor Chris Knoester had his new National Sports and Society Survey research on the reach of girls’ and women’s sports, published in the Journal of Emerging Sport Studies, written up by OSU Research News, distributed widely, and adapted and further disseminated by Scripps News to dozens of major television markets via their digital platforms. He was also extensively quoted in a follow-up article by Scripps News, focusing on the fame and business surrounding women’s basketball superstar Caitlin Clark. Finally, he was interviewed for a local television feature on girls’ and women’s sports on NBC4.
