Sociology Graduate Students Win NSF Research Fellowships and Honorable Mentions
The Department of Sociology had another successful year in the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program. Elizabeth Martin was awarded a three-year graduate research fellowship by the NSF (Advisor: Rachel Dwyer). In addition, four of our students won prestigious Honorable Mentions in this highly competitive national program. These students are: Scott Duxbury (Advisors: Dana Haynie and David Melamed); Laura Frizzell (Advisor: Mike Vuolo); Jake Hays (Advisor: Kristi Williams) and Sadé Lindsay (Advisor: Mike Vuolo).
Additionally, Evelyn Gertz has been awarded a Project Launch Grant from the Global Religion Research Initiative to support her research on the resurgence of the Aramean identity in Israel (Advisor: Hollie Nyseth Brehm). Evelyn also won an NSF graduate research fellowship just last year in the 2016 competition.
