Robert Vandenberg

Ph.D. Level
Graduate Students

My work broadly examines issues of peace, war, and social conflict, with a special focus on the study of terrorism and political violence. I am particularly interested in how grievances, identities, and ideological narratives motivate jihadist social movement organization to pursue campaigns of violence. I also take a strong interest in research areas where the study of terrorism overlaps with criminology, sociology of religion, military sociology, migration studies, and social movements research.
