Sociology of work and employment.  Current research projects focus on the relationship between legal and illegal work, and on downward mobility in the contemporary economy.  Past research has focused on the organization of care work in nursing homes, the dilemmas of contemporary service sector union organizing, and the nature of power in work organizations.
