Kammi Schmeer awarded NIH $659,000 Five Year Career Development grant

Kammi Schmeer

Kammi Schmeer, Associate Professor of Sociology, was recently awarded a $659,000 K01 Career Development Award from the National Institute of Child Health and Development for her project titled Social Contexts and Stress in Children.  This prestigious NIH grant provides Dr. Schmeer with 5 years of support to study the physiology of stress and biomarkers in children.  Through this grant, Dr. Schmeer will expand her research to better understand how social contexts (families, schools, neighborhoods) contribute to stress and poor health in children.  Key collaborators on this interdisciplinary and translational research grant include OSU professors Dr. Browning (Sociology) and Dr. Kiecolt-Glaser (College of Medicine and Institute for Behavioral Medical Research).
